Dictionary.com updates database with fresh words, inclusive definitions, and modern terms

The online dictionary, Dictionary.com has expanded by incorporating 566 fresh words, introducing 348 new meanings for existing terms, and 2,256 revised definitions.

The recent additions, feature terms like "jawn" and "shower orange," and they were added to reflect the continuously changing character of the English language.

The platform also made updates to replace binary-gendered phrases such as "he," "her," "his," and "she" with more inclusive terms like "they" and "their."

The definitions in the grammar resource were updated to encompass individuals who identify as either a man or a woman, even if they were assigned a "different sex at birth."

Also, definitions for “sextortion,” “greenwashing,” “crypto-fascism” and “nepo baby” were included.
