IPL 2022: 'Virat Kohli is overcooked, needs a break' claims former coach Ravi Shastri

In yet another disappointing night for Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League, the former RCB captain was dismissed for a golden duck by Dushmantha Chameera in the game vs Lucknow Super Giants. Virat's performance so far in IPL 2022 has been simply ordinary as the former India captain has scored just 119 runs in 7 innings so far. The highest run-scorer of the league with 6402 runs in IPL has failed to score this season and has looked terribly out of place. His failure has attracted a lot of criticism which seems to have been following Virat for the past few years since he has failed to score an international hundred.

Former India coach Ravi Shastri and English cricketer Kevin Pietersen seem to have a solution for Kohli. While speaking to Star Sports, Shastri said that Virat looks overcooked and desperately needs a break from cricket. Shastri added, "Virat needs a break because he has got 6-7 years of cricket left in him and you don't want to lose that with a fried brain. You need to address the problem up front."

Kevin Pietersen agreed with Shastri and said that Virat needs to take a break, turn off the social media and get re-energised. KP added that it will be very tough for Kohli to continue to deliver on-field as his brain is completely fried.
