Former Kerala CM V.S. Achuthanandan in Critical Condition Post Cardiac Attack

Thiruvananthapuram, Jul 1 (PTI) A team of government doctors has inspected the treatment of former Kerala Chief Minister, V. S. Achuthanandan, following his admission to a private hospital due to a cardiac attack. A seven-member specialist team from the Government Medical College here visited the hospital to evaluate the care provided to the veteran leader, according to the latest medical bulletin released on Tuesday. The visit by government doctors was executed under special instructions from the government. "The condition of Achuthanandan continues to be critical," the bulletin noted. Current therapies, including ventilator support, CRRT, and antibiotics, will be maintained, with necessary adjustments being made. Meanwhile, CPI(M) General Secretary M. A. Baby spoke confidently of Achuthanandan's response to medications during his morning visit to the hospital. The 101-year-old leader, who has been admitted to the intensive care unit, is under the careful watch of a team of specialist doctors who are monitoring his various health parameters continuously. Achuthanandan, an iconic figure in Kerala's political landscape, has been grappling with age-related health issues, leading to a reduced public presence in recent years. He remains the last surviving founder member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), established in the wake of the 1964 split in the original Communist Party. A dedicated advocate for social justice and workers' rights, Achuthanandan served as the Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011.
