Uttarakhand: CM Dhami holds virtual meet with district magistrates, reviews development works

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday held a virtual meeting with District Magistrates (DMs) of all 13 districts to review the status of development works, road construction, and the implementation of government schemes.

During the meeting, CM Dhami emphasized aligning efforts with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, urging officials to accelerate progress in every sector.

"Work should be done from village to district level to shape a vision of a developed Uttarakhand by 2047. Special focus should be given to reaching the last person in society and connecting them with welfare schemes," Dhami said.

Focus on Innovation and Public Welfare

The Chief Minister instructed each DM to implement five best practices and innovations tailored to local needs in the public interest. “The three districts to become TB-free first will be rewarded,” he announced.

He also directed officials to carry out regular cleanliness drives and launch a mass plantation campaign from June 5 (World Environment Day) to July 25, with a special push for the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative. An awareness campaign for a plastic-free Uttarakhand was also mandated.

He emphasized regular monitoring of water source conservation and Amrit Sarovar progress, and asked each district to appoint a nodal officer to oversee this.

Monsoon Preparedness and Health Vigilance

Referring to the Indian Meteorological Department’s warning of above-average monsoon rainfall, CM Dhami directed that full preparations be made in advance. “Ensure that all drains are cleaned before the rains. Drinking water, electricity, and road services must remain uninterrupted. Water tanks must be kept clean,” he said.

He added, “All necessary arrangements should be ensured to prevent dengue, malaria and corona. All necessary arrangements should be tested in hospitals.” Disaster management systems in all districts must be on alert mode, and toll-free emergency numbers must be active in districts and tehsils for prompt citizen assistance.

Special vigilance was called for along the Chardham Yatra route, with improvements in traffic, health, and security arrangements.

Illegal Encroachments and Document Verification

The Chief Minister ordered a special drive to remove illegal roadside encroachments. “Run an effective and fast verification campaign against illegally obtained documents like Aadhaar, Ayushman, and ration cards,” he said.

He also called for clear display of boards and banners related to the 1064 anti-corruption helpline in all government offices and encouraged public awareness campaigns to build a corruption-free Uttarakhand.

Local Economy and Cultural Campaigns

CM Dhami stressed promoting swadeshi (indigenous) products and focusing on the One District, Two Products initiative. He instructed that local products be mandatorily used in government events and programs. “Campaigns should be run to increase awareness about indigenous products,” he added.

For the upcoming International Yoga Day, a widespread awareness campaign and large-scale yoga camps were mandated across districts. Regarding the June 15 Kainchi Dham Foundation Day, CM Dhami called for effective traffic and temporary parking arrangements.

He further urged regular review of Chief Minister’s announcements by the DMs and close monitoring of land bank status in their districts. Additional emphasis was placed on rainwater harvesting and forest fire management, with directives to ensure all necessary preventive measures are in place.

The meeting was attended virtually by senior officials including Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, MDDA Vice Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, and all District Magistrates.
