Uttarakhand CM Dhami directs swift action on long-pending complaints

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has instructed officials to launch a dedicated campaign to address complaints pending for over 180 days in the CM Helpline 1905.

Showing dissatisfaction over the backlog, the Chief Minister gave strict directions, warning that action would be taken against officers who fail to resolve cases in a timely manner.

Emphasising the importance of meaningful resolutions, he advised officials against closing public grievances unnecessarily. He added that more effective steps should be taken to elevate the CM Helpline to reflect the state's best administrative practices.

During a review of the CM Helpline 1905 held at the Secretariat on Thursday, the Chief Minister instructed that Tehsil Diwas be conducted statewide on a single designated day. Additionally, he directed all District Magistrates to regularly hold Janta Darshan, Tehsil Diwas, and BDC meetings to ensure prompt redressal of public issues.

"Encroachment and verification campaigns should be run more effectively by the police and administration together. Work should be done rapidly towards making two villages in each district as Adarsh Gram, for this, nodal officers should be appointed in all the districts soon," CM Dhami said.

He also instructed that damaged electricity poles and transformers across the state be replaced without delay. "Safety audit of all transformers should also be done. It should be ensured that there is no problem of low voltage and hanging electricity wires; if such cases are found, strict action will be taken against the concerned officers," he said.

Further, the Chief Minister asked officials from all concerned authorities to ensure that there is no delay in approving house maps. He added that the first three districts to become TB-free would be formally recognised for their achievement.

Appreciation was extended to the Transport, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Excise, and Energy Departments for their performance in resolving grievances via the CM Helpline. However, the Chief Minister also urged the Public Works, Geology and Mining, Revenue, Home, and Finance Departments to accelerate their complaint resolution efforts.

Common issues received through the helpline include grievances related to drinking water, street lighting, electricity connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission, power cuts, and billing discrepancies.

The Chief Minister also directly interacted with some complainants during the meeting. Regarding a complaint from Upendra Singh Rawat of Uttarkashi about the drinking water line, he directed the District Magistrate to resolve the issue within a week.

Alam from Haridwar had reported problems with street lights, which have now been addressed. Hridesh Negi from Dehradun confirmed that work on his culvert-related complaint had begun.

Similarly, Gaurav Nautiyal from Chamoli's drinking water complaint and Devendra from Nainital’s low voltage issue have both been resolved.
