Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath chaired a high-level review meeting on Thursday with MPs, MLAs, and senior officials to assess road development proposals across all assembly constituencies in the Gorakhpur and Basti divisions.

The session focused on streamlining infrastructure projects and aligning them with the aspirations of local residents.

During the meeting, held at the Annexe Bhawan Auditorium, the Chief Minister engaged with public representatives to gain insights into the specific road needs of their constituencies. He encouraged them to submit proposals that reflect public expectations and promised that these would be addressed swiftly and on a priority basis.

The meeting commenced with a digital presentation showcasing proposed road projects in the region. Senior Public Works Department (PWD) officials briefed CM Yogi on the current status of pending proposals. Following the overview, the Chief Minister conducted constituency-wise discussions to identify priority areas and directed officials to take immediate action where required.

Highlighting the state's progress in expanding interstate and four-lane road connectivity, CM Yogi noted that the Gorakhpur-Basti region was already seeing positive outcomes. Emphasising the need for continued momentum, he instructed officials to take all public representatives' suggestions seriously.

He added, "Roads identified as high-priority should have their estimates prepared first, followed by a prompt start to construction. Other road projects should then be taken up in a phased manner."

CM Yogi also stressed the importance of choosing projects that impact a larger population and advocated for systematic urban development through the CM Grid Scheme. "Urban roads should be included under the CM Grid Scheme for systematic development," he said, directing officials to ensure timely and quality execution of all works.

Addressing concerns about monsoon-related road damage, he instructed the PWD to draft a special action plan for flood-prone areas. He also authorised the use of Disaster Relief Funds for such repairs if necessary.

Tourism department officials provided updates on ongoing and proposed projects at key religious sites. Responding to this, CM Yogi directed the PWD to guarantee smooth road connectivity to all current and future tourism destinations. He instructed officials to process such proposals quickly and begin work without delays.

Reflecting on the development trajectory of Gorakhpur and Basti, CM Yogi remarked that both divisions were gaining a new identity based on growth and modern infrastructure. He described public representatives as "the true brand ambassadors of progress in their constituencies," urging them to remain closely engaged with the public and convey actionable feedback to the government.

He reiterated the state’s commitment to "public convenience, safety, and prosperity," calling on officials and elected representatives to proactively resolve any issues slowing down development work.

The meeting saw participation from Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, State Minister Vijayalakshmi Gautam, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Mayor Manglesh Srivastava, and numerous MLAs from both divisions. Key officials present included PWD Principal Secretary Ajay Chauhan, Tourism Principal Secretary Mukesh Meshram, and PWD HoD Ashok Dwivedi.
