Lucknow: In a significant decision, the Uttar Pradesh government approved a proposal on Thursday to allocate eight acres of land on a 99-year lease in Ayodhya to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs for establishing a National Security Guard (NSG) hub. The decision, made during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is part of efforts to enhance security measures in the temple town and nearby sensitive areas.

Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna stated that the land allocation in the Gaura Barik Cantonment area of Ayodhya Sadar tehsil will be a one-time exception, with the land provided free of cost but with certain conditions, and will not set a precedent for future transactions. Khanna emphasized that the decision underscores the state government's dedication to ensuring a robust security infrastructure in Ayodhya.

The proposed location for the NSG hub is deemed strategic for the deployment and operations of elite commandos, particularly in the event of a potential threat. The establishment of this hub is expected to substantially enhance the rapid response capabilities in a region regularly visited by devotees from across India and around the globe, attracted by Ayodhya's renowned temples.
