Train derails after hitting dead end at Hyderabad station, 6 injured

Six passengers suffered minor injuries after three coaches of the Tambaram (Chennai)-Hyderabad Charminar Express derailed at the Hyderabad Deccan Railway station in Nampally here on Wednesday morning, senior Railway officials said.

The Hyderabad Deccan railway station is the train's final destination.

South Central Railway (SCR) officials said, "Train No.12759 Tambaram – Hyderabad Charminar Express, while rolling on to Platform No.5 of Hyderabad station, hit the dead end of track, resulting in the derailment of three coaches S2, S3 and S6 today at around 08.45 hours." Six passengers who suffered injuries in the incident were provided with medical assistance at Central Railway Hospital in Lallaguda, they said.

Immediately, on receipt of the information, a team of Railway officials undertook the relief and restoration operation and cleared the coaches for examination after re-railing the affected coaches, SCR Chief Public Relations Officer Ch Rakesh said in a release.

The affected track was also restored, he said, adding the incident did not impact the regular train movements at the station and trains were operated in a normal manner.

The return journey of the affected train (Train No. 12760 Hyderabad – Tambaram Charminar Express) also started as per its scheduled time, the SCR official said.

The Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Central Circle will hold a statutory enquiry into the incident, the release added.
