Rahul Gandhi defamation case: what Congress leader said in court

His lawyers submitted before the judge that no harm was done to the complainant or any other individual by Gandhi's remark and asked for minimum punishment.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi told the Surat court that sentenced him to 2 years in jail that he had no intentions of defaming any community with his 2019 remark linking Modi surname to thieves.

His lawyers submitted before the judge that no harm was done to the complainant or any other individual by Gandhi's remark and asked for minimum punishment.

Prosecution lawyers, however, argued that Rahul Gandhi is a member of the Parliament and giving him minimum punishment will send a wrong message to the people.
