Punjab Police partners with Save Life India to make Punjab roads safer and more secure

Punjab Police has partnered with Save Life India to enhance road safety through a data-driven approach aimed at reducing accidents and ensuring safer travel across the state.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Traffic and Road Safety AS Rai and Save Life Foundation founder Piyush Tewari at the Punjab Police Headquarters on Monday.

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav emphasized that this collaboration will focus on scientific crash investigations, identifying accident-prone areas, and implementing targeted interventions to prevent mishaps.

Additionally, traffic personnel will receive specialized training in advanced crash analysis techniques to improve enforcement and ensure effective road safety measures.

“By leveraging evidence-based solutions, we are fully committed to significantly reducing the number of accidents and ultimately saving lives throughout the region. This proactive approach not only aims to improve road safety but also fosters a culture of accountability and awareness among all road users,” he added.

ADGP Traffic AS Rai reiterated Punjab Police’s commitment to professional policing, ensuring the safety and security of people while traveling. He highlighted that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Punjab is the only state in India that has successfully reversed the rising trend of accidental deaths.

The number of fatalities in areas covered by the Sadak Surakhiya Force (SSF) dropped by 48%, while the state witnessed an overall decline of 5% in accidental deaths. In contrast, the rest of the country saw an increase in road accident fatalities at nearly double that rate.

Notably, the Save Life Foundation is dedicated to reducing road-related deaths and injuries in India, particularly among underprivileged communities, by addressing critical issues of road safety and trauma care.
