Punjab Government to recruit 111 horticulture development officers to boost sector growth

In a move to strengthen Punjab’s horticulture sector and create employment opportunities, the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has approved the recruitment of 111 Horticulture Development Officers (HDOs). This initiative is aimed at providing farmers with enhanced technical support, modern agricultural practices, and improved access to government schemes.

Recruitment Process Set to Begin Soon
Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat confirmed that the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) will oversee the selection process. He stated that the Chief Minister has given a green signal for the recruitment, and senior officials have been directed to submit the necessary details to initiate the hiring process at the earliest.

Enhancing Agricultural Productivity
Highlighting the significance of this recruitment, Bhagat emphasized that the appointment of HDOs will play a crucial role in uplifting Punjab’s horticulture sector. The officers will provide farmers with:

Technical expertise to improve crop yields.
Support for organic farming and advanced cultivation techniques.


Guidance on modern farming practices and government assistance programs.


With trained professionals in place, Punjab’s agricultural economy is expected to witness higher productivity and improved farmer incomes.

Expanding Horticultural Development Across Punjab
The Minister reiterated that this initiative will facilitate the effective implementation of government schemes, promote the expansion of horticultural activities, and encourage sustainable agricultural growth across the state.

The Punjab Government remains committed to enhancing the agriculture and horticulture sectors, ensuring sustainable development, and generating new employment opportunities to strengthen the state’s economy.
