G. Nageswara Rao takes charge as Punjab vigilance chief, vows zero tolerance on corruption

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) G. Nageswara Rao, IPS, officially assumed charge as the Chief Director of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday, February 18, at Vigilance Bhawan, SAS Nagar.

Reaffirming Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to a corruption-free Punjab, Rao emphasized the state's strict enforcement of a zero-tolerance policy against corruption across all government departments.

Underlining the importance of administrative efficiency and transparency, the newly appointed VB chief assured that all corruption cases and Vigilance Enquiries (VEs) would be investigated swiftly and thoroughly.

He further stated that every case would be pursued rigorously in court to ensure strict punishment for those found guilty. Encouraging vigilance among officers, he urged them to remain proactive and uncompromising in their efforts to eliminate corruption.

Issuing a firm warning, Rao made it clear that any official or officer within the Vigilance Bureau found engaging in corrupt activities would face serious consequences.

Stressing the role of public participation, he called upon citizens to actively report corruption cases through the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line, helping to build a more accountable system.

To evaluate the current vigilance efforts, Rao has scheduled a meeting with all VB Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) on February 19 at SAS Nagar to review pending cases and vigilance enquiries.
