Barnala tops in Punjab for issuing UDID cards for Divyang persons

The Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is actively working to support Divyang persons in the state.

Barnala district has achieved the top position in Punjab for issuing UDID (Unique Disability ID) cards, which enable Divyang persons to access various government services.

Social Security, Women, and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur highlighted that through the combined efforts of the Social Security, Women, and Child Development Department and the Health Department, over 70% of Divyang persons in Barnala—totaling 9,766—have been issued UDID cards.

Dr. Baljit Kaur explained that the UDID card provides Divyang persons with access to all schemes and services of both the central and Punjab governments through a single card.

She emphasized that the UDID card is not just an identification document but a crucial tool for availing benefits under government schemes, including pensions, training, employment, and medical assistance. This initiative aims to make government services more accessible for Divyang persons.

Additionally, she announced that the Punjab government has established a dedicated disability cell for Divyang persons. This specialized cell serves as a single-window platform to provide seamless access to various government schemes and benefits.

Dr. Baljit Kaur urged all eligible Divyang persons in the state to apply for a UDID card by visiting Sewa Kendras, District Social Security Offices, or Civil Hospitals to maximize their access to government benefits.
