'Sad moment but...': MPs react to moving to New Parliament building | Watch

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi recounted his memories of the Old Parliament building on the first day of the 5-day special session, several members of Parliament shared their thoughts about moving to the New Parliament building.

The operations will move to the new building on Tuesday, September 18.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, recalling his days in the old building termed the moment as 'sad' but added that he looks forward to the new building and hopes it offers better facilities.

Meanwhile, Congress leader KC Venugopal, asserted that the new building alone will not solve the purpose. 'Building, building hai', he said, saying what happens inside the Parliament is more important rather than the structure.

BJP leader and MP Saroj Pandey said that leaders have witnessed historic bills inside the old building, adding that the structure holds lots of importance.

Getting nostalgic, Meenakshi Lekhi said, "As PM Modi said changes are part of life. In this change, as time passes by, buildings and people also change. This old building (of Parliament) has a very old history...We saw here the abrogation of Article 370, the GST coming into effect...Many memories will be attached to this place. New memories will be attached to the new Parliament building..."
