Rahul Gandhi contradicted by ally Shiv Sena on Mahatma Gandhi assassin Godse

While paying tribute to the father of the nation, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi blamed 'Hindutva-vaadis' for his assassination.

On the occasion of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi's death anniversary, the different ideologies of allies Congress and Shiv Sena apparently clashed again.

While paying tribute to the father of the nation, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi blamed 'Hindutva-vaadis' for his assassination. He said that 'Hindutva-vaadi' think that the Mahatma is dead, but he still lives where there's truth.

The Congress' ally in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena reacted to the comment by saying that Godse was not a true 'Hindutva-vaadi', otherwise he would've shot Jinnah for dividing the nation.

The Sena was until recently an ally of the BJP. Following the Sena-Congress tie-up in 2019, the BJP had reportedly mocked Rahul Gandhi for allying with a party which had lionised MK Gandhi's assassin.

In the past, an editorial in Sena's mouthpiece Saamna reportedly called Nathuram Godse a patriot who stood for swadesh and Hindutva.

Godse murdered MK Gandhi on January 30, 1948 at Birla House in Delhi when the latter was going to a prayer.
