Manipur burning again because of BJP's divisive politics: Congress

A delegation led by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday calling for 'firm and sustained efforts' to control violence in Manipur and restore normalcy in the state.

The party has put forth 12 demands, including setting up a high-level inquiry commission, headed by a serving or retired Supreme Court Judge.

This comes amid Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the violence hit state

Addressing a press conference shortly after, Congress general secretary in-charge Communications Jairam Ramesh hit out at the BJP-led government, saying that its 'divisive politics burned Manipur in 2001 and is burning the state again in 2023'.
