PM Modi welcomes G20 guests, says India delighted to host summit

As a flurry of world leaders converged in India’s national capital on the eve of the 2-day G20 summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent out a welcome message. Saying that India was “delighted” to host the event, Modi charted out India’s expectations from the meeting.

The Prime Minister also invoked Mahatma Gandhi, he wrote about the importance of serving the “very last person in the queue” and aiming for “human-centric and inclusive development.”

Rooted in our cultural ethos, India's G20 presidency theme, 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - One Earth, One Family, One Future', deeply resonates with our worldview that the whole world is one family, he said.

"India's G20 presidency has been inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented. We actively voiced the developmental concerns of the Global South," he added.

Modi said he will be chairing sessions on 'One Earth', 'One Family' and 'One Future', covering a range of issues of prime concern to the world community. These include furthering strong, sustainable, inclusive and balanced growth, he added.

Modi will reportedly meet US President Joe Biden on September 8, hours after he lands in New Delhi. Reports say the PM will host a dinner for Biden. Modi is slated to have at least 15 bilateral meetings on G20 sidelines.
