A massive win for farmers who have been protesting against the farm laws for a year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday repealed the three new laws.

Addressing the nation on the occasion of Gurupurab, PM Modi made the big, surprise announcement.

The PM appealed to the farmers to end their year-long agitation and assured that the laws will be repealed in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament.

The PM asserted that his govt's intentions behind bringing in the new laws were only to make farmers' lives better. The Prime Minister expressed sadness at the fact that despite best of intentions, the government was unable to convince a group of farmers on their benefit.

"Maybe something was lacking in our tapasya, which is why we could not convince some farmers about the laws. But today is Prakash Parv, not the time to blame anyone. Today, I want to tell the country that we have decided to repeal the three farm laws," PM Modi said in his address to the nation.
