Tragic Incident: Woman Allegedly Raped by Four in Odisha

Baripada, Odisha, Jun 19 (PTI) A disturbing incident has emerged from Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, where a woman was allegedly raped by four men, as reported by the police on Thursday.

This alarming case marks the third such event in the state within just three days.

According to a complaint filed by the 31-year-old victim's husband, four men familiar to the family entered their home in the Baripada Sadar police jurisdiction while her husband and other family members were absent. The intruders forcibly took her to another location, falling under the jurisdiction of a different police station, where they took turns assaulting her.

Inspector-in-charge Aditya Prasad Jena of Baripada Sadar police station stated that the victim has identified all four men involved, who are currently evading arrest. He noted, "A team has been formed to search for the accused individuals," further mentioning that the attackers threatened the victim with death should she disclose the attack.

The victim is currently receiving medical care at a government hospital, and her condition is said to be stable. This incident occurred on Monday night, closely following other gang rape incidents in two separate districts in the state.

Among those incidents, a college student was reportedly gang-raped at Gopalpur beach on Sunday, resulting in the apprehension of ten accused, including four minors. Additionally, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped, murdered, and discovered hanged from a tree in Keonjhar district on Tuesday.
