NSA Ajit Doval, US counterpart Jake Sullivan launch iCET, hold talks amid intensifying Ukraine-Russia war

India's National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and his American counterpart Jake Sullivan launched the initiative on Critical and Emerging Technology (iCET) on 31 January 2023, elevating the strategic partnership on technology between the two countries. Doval and Sullivan also shared their assessments of major global and regional developments.

The Indian NSA also met US Deputy Secretary of Defense, Kathleen Hicks. The discussions revolved around priorities for the US-India bilateral defence partnership, increasing defence industrial cooperation between the two countries, and strengthening policy and operational coordination in the Indo-Pacific region.

She thanked Doval for India’s leadership in the region and discussed avenues to deepen coordination between the US and Indian militaries to address the region’s increasingly contested strategic environment, Pahon said.

"The two also discussed opportunities to increase bilateral defense industrial cooperation through innovative joint endeavors between US and Indian firms that support India’s unique operational requirements," he said.
