Joe Biden has invited PM Modi for state visit to USA, says report: watch possible dates, plans

US President Joe Biden has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a state visit to America, and the Indian premier has accepted in principle, according to sources quoted by the news agency PTI.

Efforts are underway to finalise dates in June or July 2023, before India hosts Joe Biden among other world leaders for the G20 summit in September. PM Modi might address a joint session of the US Congress, and attend a state dinner at the White House during the trip.

In addition to G-20, Modi has packed domestic and international commitments till the fall, before he hits the campaign trail for a series of crucial state assembly elections later this year.

Sources, who requested anonymity as they are not allowed to talk on this sensitive issue at this point in time, however, did not reveal when this invitation was delivered and who delivered this personal invitation from Biden to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The Indian Prime Minister visited the US in September 2021 for a 5-day state trip. Biden hosted French President Emanual Macron for his first state dinner last December.
