Delhi police cracked a murder case using a nose pin as a critical clue

A nose pin has become a crucial lead for Delhi police in unraveling the case of a woman whose body was discovered in a drain nearly a month ago. The investigation has led to the arrest of Anil Kumar, a businessman and husband of the deceased, whom the police suspect of murdering her and disposing of the body in the drain.

On March 15, a woman's body was discovered wrapped in a bedsheet and weighted with a stone and a cement sack in a Delhi drain. The turning point in the investigation was the identification of the woman, made possible through a distinctive nose pin. This piece of jewelry ultimately unlocked the mystery behind the murder.

The nose pin was traced back to a jewelry store in South Delhi, where records revealed it had been purchased by Anil Kumar, a property dealer residing at a farmhouse in Gurugram. The transaction was billed in his name, bringing him under police scrutiny.

The deceased was identified as Seema Singh, 47 years old. Upon approaching Mr. Kumar, the police were informed that Ms. Singh, his wife of 20 years, had supposedly traveled to Vrindavan without her phone—a claim that immediately aroused suspicions.

Digging deeper, the police visited Mr. Kumar's office in Dwarka and discovered his mother-in-law's contact information in a diary. When they reached out to Ms. Singh's family, her sister Babita expressed concern, revealing that they had not been in contact with her since March 11. Despite their anxiety, Mr. Kumar had previously assured them that Ms. Singh was in Jaipur and not inclined to speak, persuading the family to delay approaching the authorities.

On April 1, the family was summoned to identify a body, which they confirmed as Ms. Singh's. The following day, her elder son corroborated the identification. The post-mortem report indicated that Ms. Singh had been strangled to death. Adding to the family's suspicions, Babita noted that only Mr. Kumar and Ms. Singh had access to the keys of their Dwarka residence.

With these revelations, the investigation has gathered momentum, cementing the nose pin's role as a pivotal clue in solving this tragic case.
