A 22-year-old woman, in collaboration with her lover, allegedly orchestrated the murder of her husband just two weeks after their marriage in Auraiya district, Uttar Pradesh.

According to police reports, the accused, Pragati Yadav and Anurag Yadav, had been in a relationship for four years. Despite their long-standing relationship, parental disapproval led to Pragati's marriage to Dilip on March 5.

Tragically, on March 19, Dilip was discovered in a field with severe bullet injuries. Initially rushed to the community health center in Bidhuna, the 25-year-old husband's condition deteriorated, necessitating transfers first to Saifai Hospital and then to a facility in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. Ultimately, Dilip was moved to a hospital in Auraiya on March 20, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

The victim's brother subsequently lodged a formal complaint at the Sahar police station, sparking an investigation into the incident.

Investigations soon uncovered that Pragati and her lover Anurag, unable to see each other post-marriage, conspired to eliminate Pragati’s husband. The duo allegedly enlisted the services of a contract killer, Ramaji Chaudhary, agreeing to pay him Rs 2 lakh to execute the grim task.

Police officials detailed how Ramaji and his associates enticed Dilip to a secluded field, where they brutally assaulted him before shooting him. The assailants fled swiftly from the crime scene thereafter.

Authorities were able to identify and apprehend the three primary suspects, including Pragati, Anurag, and Ramaji, through critical evidence from CCTV footage. The police seized several items from the accused, including two pistols, four live cartridges, a motorcycle, two mobile phones, a purse, an Aadhar card, and Rs 3,000 in cash.

Efforts are ongoing to capture additional accomplices involved in the crime who remain at large. The case continues to develop as law enforcement seeks further justice for the slain husband.
