Uttar Pradesh Clears New Expressway to Boost Regional Connectivity

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has given the green light for the construction of a controlled-access greenfield link expressway connecting the Agra-Lucknow Expressway with the Purvanchal Expressway, as per a recent statement. The decision was made during a meeting led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with the objective of improving connectivity across key regional corridors. Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi', the state's Industrial Development Minister, explained that the new expressway would be pivotal in Uttar Pradesh's growing expressway network. This network will integrate existing and upcoming routes like the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, the under-construction Ganga Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, and the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. Such integration will facilitate smoother travel between cities such as Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Ghazipur. The venture is anticipated to create both direct and indirect job opportunities. Planned as a six-lane route with the potential to expand to eight lanes, the expressway will cover a distance of 49.96 kilometers and follow the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) model. The entire project cost, estimated at Rs 4,775.84 crore, will be federally funded by the state government. Nandi remarked, "This network is crafted to offer swift, uninterrupted access throughout the state, ultimately fostering regional development through improved logistics and transportation."
