NDMA asks govt departments to not share data on Joshimath land sinking publicly; ISRO withdraws report

State government spoke to ISRO and other departments, including Wadia Institute, IIT Roorkee, and CBRI informing them not to share reports that create panic among residents according to The Hindu

Days after ISRO shared a study stating that Joshimath sank 5.4 cm in 12 days, the National Disaster Management Authority has directed concerned departments to not interact with media or share any data publicly or on social media, till an 'integrated' final report is submitted by the expert group on the subject.

This was conveyed in an office memo issued on January 13 according to media reports.

According to a report by The Hindu, the State government spoke to ISRO and other departments, including Wadia Institute, IIT Roorkee, CBRI, GIS Kolkata, NIDM New Delhi, IIRS Dehradun, and NGRI Hyderabad, informing them not to to share reports that create panic among residents.

Following the NDMA letter, the ISRO report has been removed from its website.
