Manipur Government urges citizens to avoid misinformation, sets up 24x7 control room

In an effort to maintain peace and harmony, the Manipur government has urged citizens to stay vigilant against unverified news, rumors, and misinformation that could disrupt stability in the state. The government warned that certain individuals and groups may be deliberately spreading false narratives to incite unrest and create fear among the people.

Government’s Measures Against Misinformation

To counter the spread of misleading information, the government has established a 24x7 Control Room where citizens can verify any news or updates. The Control Room can be contacted at 9485280419 for fact-checking and clarification.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to taking strict legal action against those attempting to provoke violence, disrupt communal harmony, or spread falsehoods through digital platforms and social media.

Call for Community Unity and Cooperation

The government has urged community leaders, civil society organizations, religious groups, and student bodies to work together in fostering unity and trust among all communities. Officials emphasized that maintaining peace and law & order is a shared responsibility, and misinformation should not be allowed to create divisions.

Appeal to Citizens

Residents have been encouraged to verify information only through official sources and avoid spreading unconfirmed reports. The government has stressed that peace, stability, and development must remain a top priority for Manipur’s progress.

With the state taking proactive steps to prevent misinformation, citizens are advised to use trusted sources and report any suspicious content that could fuel unrest.
