UP Government Praised for Organizing Grand Event; Millions of Pilgrims Expected for Special Bathing Rituals

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh arrived in Prayagraj on Thursday to participate in the ongoing Maha Kumbh 2025, calling it a “historic and rare spiritual opportunity.” Sharing a video of his arrival on social media, Singh emphasized that Maha Kumbh is not just a religious fair but a profound confluence of Indian culture and faith.

Accompanied by his cabinet colleagues and legislators, Singh took a holy dip at the sacred Triveni Sangam, a ritual that symbolizes spiritual cleansing and devotion. During his visit, he also met BJP leader and Lok Sabha MP Ravi Shankar Prasad.

Joined by my Hon'ble cabinet colleagues and MLAs, we stand together in prayer, seeking divine blessings for our people and the nation. May this sacred gathering strengthen our collective spirit and guide us toward a brighter future,” Singh posted on X.

UP Government Commended for Grand Maha Kumbh Arrangements

Union Minister Shripad Naik, who was also present at the Maha Kumbh, praised the Uttar Pradesh government for its meticulous execution of the event. He highlighted the integration of modern technology, including digital information centers, drone surveillance, extensive CCTV monitoring, and a large-scale cleanliness initiative, which have enhanced the experience for millions of pilgrims.

The UP government has successfully implemented a robust security system and efficient transport arrangements, ensuring the smooth functioning of the Maha Kumbh,” Naik stated in an official UP government release.

High-Profile Visits and Growing Pilgrim Count
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dip at Sangam during his visit on Wednesday, following earlier visits by Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Kiren Rijiju. On Tuesday, Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck also participated in the sacred bathing ritual.

On February 1, a delegation of 73 diplomats and foreign guests arrived at the Maha Kumbh, some of whom also took a holy dip. Industry leaders like Gautam Adani, international artist Chris Martin of Coldplay, and several celebrities from the film, television, and sports industries have also made appearances at the mega event.

According to the UP government, nearly 39 crore pilgrims have visited the Maha Kumbh since January 13. The fair, which concludes on Maha Shivratri (February 26), will witness two more significant bathing rituals on February 12 and 26, drawing millions of devotees.

Tragedy at the Maha Kumbh

While the event has largely been successful, a stampede at the Sangam on January 29 resulted in the tragic loss of 30 lives, with 60 others injured. Authorities attributed the incident to overcrowding, and the UP government has ordered a judicial probe to investigate the circumstances leading to the mishap.

As the Maha Kumbh 2025 nears its culmination, authorities continue to ensure smooth operations, with enhanced safety measures in place to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims expected in the coming days.
