Male passenger reports harassment incident on Pune-Hatia express

On a recent journey aboard the Pune-Hatia Express, a distressing incident unfolded when a passenger, Nirmal Mishra, recounted being harassed by another man while asleep.

Mishra shared his ordeal via Instagram, alleging that a 33-year-old man from Chhattisgarh behaved inappropriately, reportedly grabbing, touching, and kissing him without consent.

In a video posted online, Mishra confronted the alleged perpetrator, who reportedly responded that he "liked it."

The situation escalated with Mishra reading the accused, whose wife attempted to intervene, pleading for forgiveness on her husband's behalf. The accused showed no remorse, continuing to stare at the camera despite the serious allegations against him.

Mishra expressed frustration over the lack of bystander intervention, noting that responses might have differed had the victim been a woman.

He also criticized the Railway Protection Force for dismissing the incident, ostensibly due to the fact that both parties involved were male.

While the incident highlighted the vulnerability of passengers, regardless of gender, social media users applauded Mishra for his courage in publicly addressing the harassment.

Comments flooded in, condemning the alleged perpetrator and praising Mishra for standing his ground.

This event has spurred discussions on passenger safety in Indian trains, emphasizing the need for better protective measures for all travelers.
