Uddhav Thackeray stays neutral in Delhi Polls; Shiv Sena (UBT) to refrain from campaigning

Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena stays neutral in Delhi polls, not campaigning for Congress or AAP. This choice reflects a strategic position despite their INDIA bloc alliance. The contest intensifies among AAP, BJP, and Congress, with SP and TMC backing AAP.

Uddhav Thackeray stays neutral in Delhi Polls; Shiv Sena (UBT) to refrain from campaigning

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray will not campaign for either the Congress or AAP in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections, maintaining a neutral stance, party MP Sanjay Raut confirmed on Tuesday.

While acknowledging that both the Congress and AAP are allies in the INDIA bloc, Raut stated, “We are not going anywhere for campaigning. We are neutral.”

The Delhi assembly polls, scheduled for February 5, are shaping up to be a triangular battle involving the AAP, BJP, and Congress. The Samajwadi Party (SP) and Trinamool Congress (TMC) have extended their support to the Aam Aadmi Party, while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction is backing the BJP.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, aiming for a third consecutive term, is leading AAP’s campaign after its 2020 landslide victory, where the party won 62 of 70 seats. The BJP and Congress are gearing up to challenge AAP in this high-stakes contest.

Despite staying neutral in Delhi, the Shiv Sena (UBT) continues to align with its INDIA bloc allies for broader national and strategic issues.
