In a major policy breakthrough, the Madhya Pradesh government has approved the long-pending Public Service Promotion Rules, marking the end of a nine-year delay.

The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav at the Mantralaya in Bhopal on Tuesday.

The newly approved rules ensure representation and protection of the interests of reserved categories, with 20% reservation for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 16% for Scheduled Castes (SC).

Promotions for SC and ST public servants will now also be based on merit, aligning with both equity and performance-based governance.

Highlighting the significance of the decision, CM Yadav shared on social media platform X, "Today, in the cabinet meeting, the matter of promotion of employees and officers of the state, which was pending for 9 years, was resolved. In this, the interests of employees and officers of all categories, including SC-ST, have been taken care of. Through this, after promotion, 2 lakh posts will be vacant in government services and there will be a possibility of fresh recruitment on these."

With the implementation of the new promotion rules, the government anticipates nearly two lakh vacancies opening up, paving the way for fresh recruitment across departments.

In another key decision, the cabinet approved the establishment of 459 new Anganwadi Centres in special tribal areas under the 'Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0' scheme, as part of the PM-JANMAN program. This move includes the creation of 459 honorary posts for Anganwadi Workers, 459 for Anganwadi Helpers, and 26 regular supervisory roles.

The project, which spans from FY 2025–26 to 2030–31, has a total estimated cost of ₹143.46 crore. Of this, ₹72.78 crore will be contributed by the Centre, while the remaining ₹70.68 crore will come from the state government.

The cabinet also cleared a major investment in the state's power infrastructure. A total estimated expenditure of ₹5,163 crore was approved for the ongoing and upcoming capital projects of the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) for the period 2025–26 to 2029–30. The funding pattern includes 20% equity from the state government and 80% as loans from financial institutions or banks.

Additionally, the council of ministers approved the establishment of new District Treasuries in the recently formed districts of Pandhurna, Maihar, and Mauganj, aimed at strengthening local administrative efficiency.
