Former zilla panchayat member alleges Prajwal Revanna raped her for over 3 years

A former zilla panchayat member accused JDS leader Prajwal Revanna of raping her for over three years. The 40-year-old woman said that Prajwal also recorded videos of her and threatened to leak them if she did not listen to him.

The woman gave her statement to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was formed in the Prajwal Revanna case. Soon after that, an FIR was registered by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Karnataka. The case was registered on May 1.

The FIR stated that the woman used to visit MPs and MLAs to seek funds for development work in her area. The woman mentioned that she was harassed by JD(S) MP between January 1, 2021 and April 25, 2024.

The woman alleged in her statement, "In 2021, in such an instance, I visited Prajwal Revanna to get the work done at MP quarters. He asked me to go to the first floor where many women were waiting for him. After speaking to the people on the ground floor, he came to the first floor and spoke to other women. Finally, I remained and he asked me to come inside the room."

The woman said that Prajwal Revana dragged her into the room and threatened her of consequences if she did not listen to him.

"Inside the room, he dragged my hand and closed the door. I asked him why he was closing the door and he asked me to sit on the bed and told me that my husband was talking way too much and threatened me of dire consequences. He said that his mother missed the MLA ticket due to my husband’s interference. He said that if I wanted to grow politically, I would have to listen to his words," the woman further mentioned.

The 40-year-old stated that Prajwal recorded her while she was removing her clothes and threatened her to share those videos online. The woman said, "Then he asked me to remove my clothes and I denied it and said I would scream for help. He then threatened me saying that he was carrying a gun and would not leave me and my husband."

The woman said that she did not complain out of fear. She decided to raise her voice now as the SIT was formed in this case.

Prajwal Revanna is the NDA candidate in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency that went to the polls on April 26. Nearly 3,000 explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal sexually abusing several women had started making the rounds in Hassan in recent days.
