Video | Kashmir officer braves leopard with bare hands

A wildlife department official braves a leopard, roaming in a village in Kashmir, using a stick and his bare hands.

In a video that surfaced on April 3, the official was seen fighting with the wild cat in Fatehpora village of central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, in an attempt to capture it.

At one point, the officer bends down to pick up a stick but gets attacked by the animal. He then fights the leopard with his bare hands.

Other officials and a few villagers soon arrive to the officer's rescue. They use a heavy stick and also kick and punch the animal.

Finally, the officer succeeds in freeing his hands from the leopard’s grip. The animal was later captured alive and tranquilised.

During the rescue mission, three wildlife officials and two women were injured.
