Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said that results of the caste survey conducted in the state will be discussed with all the nine parties who were in favour of the exercise.&nbsp;
After the result of the survey were announced on Monday, Kumar said that all the nine parties will meet on Tuesday to discuss the way forward.&nbsp;
He added that the results not only reveal caste data but also the financial condition of the families. He said action will be taken for the development and upliftment of all sections of Bihar based on the data.&nbsp;
According to the data released by Development Commissioner Vivek Singh, the state&rsquo;s total population stood at a little over 13.07 crore, out of which the Extremely Backward Classes (36 per cent) were the largest social segment followed by the Other Backward Classes at 27.13 per cent.
The survey also stated that Yadavs, the OBC group to which Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav belongs, were the largest in terms of the population, accounting for 14.27 per cent of the total.
Dalits, also known as the Scheduled Castes, accounted for 19.65 per cent of the total population in the state, which is also home to nearly 22 lakh (1.68 per cent) people belonging to the Scheduled Tribes.
Those belonging to the &ldquo;unreserved&rdquo; category, which denotes the proverbial &ldquo;upper castes&rdquo; who dominated politics till the Mandal wave of the 1990s comprise 15.52 per cent of the total population.

Following the release of the <a href="https://www.editorji.com/india-news/bihar-govt-releases-caste-survey-results-obcs-ebcs-comprise-63-1696234703534">caste-based survey in Bihar</a>, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that it is important to know the people who clean our drains, who stay in jhuggis, how much is their population and what is their economic state in society.
"Who are the people who collect garbage, clean the drains? Who are the people who live in slums, who work as labourers, who are landless? The data reveals the population of communities and their economic status. It will help the government in joining the weaker sections of the society with the mainstream," said Yadav.&nbsp;
Sharing insights into the survey findings, he said, "64 per cent are backward and 20 per cent are SC STs. This data that roughly 85 per cent are from the marginalised section of society. This has come before everyone in the country. Our fight has been for social justice and economic justice, to bring to the mainstream those who are weak."
Boasting the state government's achievement despite obstacles from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Deputy CM said, "We have done historic work in a short span of time and released the data. The BJP had tried to create many obstacles. We had placed the demand of caste-based census to the Prime Minister and agreed that if he declines we will have our own caste-based census in the state. The census was denied in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, but our commitment was strong and we did it."

A waitress of a five-star hotel has been booked for allegedly spilling hot tea on a seven-year-old girl's hand.

A waitress working at a five-star hotel in Mumbai has been booked after she allegedly spilled hot tea on a seven-year-old girl's hand.
According to the child's family, the waitress who was carrying hot tea in a kettle on a tray, bumped into the child, causing her a burn injury.
The girl said that the waitress asked her not to shout.
When the parents came to know about the incident, they rushed the girl to a hospital where the doctors said that she suffered six to seven per cent burns.
An officer said they have recorded the statements of some of the guests who witnessed the incident and have also sought CCTV footage of the spot from the hotel authorities, the Indian Express reported.
The police are in the process of gathering evidence in the matter.

Five people, including four children, suffered burn injuries after a &lsquo;helium&rsquo; balloon burst into flames after coming into contact with an electric wire. The incident occurred during a birthday party in Bengaluru on September 30.&nbsp;
The injured have been identified as HAL employee Vijay Aditya Kumar, 44, Dhyan Chandra, 7, Ishan, 2, Sanjay, 8, and Sohila, 3, the Indian Express reported.
Neighbours rushed the victims to a hospital following the incident.&nbsp;
A police officer said that there was a sparkling candle in the room and as the balloon burst, the fire spread.&nbsp;
An official suspected that the balloon may have been filled with hydrogen, instead of helium.
&ldquo;Helium is an inert gas and does not react with any other substance. Even if it comes into contact with a flame or heat source, the balloon will just pop like any other ordinary inflated balloon. Whereas, hydrogen is a flammable gas and it spreads fire,&rdquo; the officer said.

A tribal woman who was carried in a 'dholi' (makeshift stretcher) due to the lack of proper roads after she went into labour gave birth in transit in Shahapur taluka of Thane district of Maharashtra on Sunday.
A video of the woman being carried in the dholi has gone viral on social media.
The woman from Patikacha Pada hamlet was being carried in the dholi in the late morning hours by her family members and some villagers. At around noon, she delivered a girl, a villager and an ASHA worker said.
The woman and the baby were later taken to the Kasara primary health center (PHC) in a private vehicle.
A villager said they crossed streams and difficult terrain while taking the woman to the nearest PHC from their hamlet.
"Luckily, an ASHA worker accompanied us and helped in the smooth delivery," he said.
Villagers claimed their village was adopted by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde when he was the guardian minister of Thane district.
The mother and the baby are safe and stable, the health worker said.&nbsp;

PM Modi pays tributes to Mahatma, says Gandhi's impact is global

Modi on Monday also paid floral tributes to Shastri at Vijay Ghat memorial early in the morning.
Today marks the 154th birth anniversary of Gandhi, hailed as the Father of the Nation, who led India to freedom through the path of non-violence and continues to be a globally revered figure.
An interfaith prayer service was held at Rajghat where Gandhi's favourite devotional songs were also played.
"I bow to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. Mahatma Gandhi's impact is global, motivating the entire humankind to further the spirit of unity and compassion.
"May we always work towards fulfilling his dreams. May his thoughts enable every youngster be (sic) the agent of change he dreamt of, fostering unity and harmony all over," Modi posted on X on Monday.
Several Union ministers and bureaucrats were present on the occasion at Rajghat, situated on the banks of Yamuna.
Modi also hailed Shastri on X, saying his iconic call for 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan' resonates even today.
"His unwavering commitment to India's progress and his leadership during challenging times remain exemplary. May we always work to realise his vision for a strong India," he posted.&nbsp;

In a post in Hindi on X, Rahul Gandhi paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi remembering him as the man who showed people the path of truth, non-violence, harmony, and united India.

The Congress on Gandhi Jayanti on Monday vowed to "expose" the "total hypocrisy" of those who appropriate Gandhian symbols and project his legacy to the world, "but are simply unable and unwilling to uphold the values he championed." The opposition party also resolved to work towards the victory of "truth over lies", and ensure that the politics of compassion prevails over the "politics of hate, vengeance and prejudice." The Congress paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge hailing him as not just an individual, but an ideology and the moral compass of the country.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said that this Gandhi Jayanti, "let us stand with those Gandhian organisations in different parts of the country, especially Varanasi, Ahmedabad and New Delhi which are under siege and assault by the forces who not only fought the Mahatma all his life but played a key role in creating a climate that led to his assassination." "Let us pledge to fight those elements who glorify the ideas and actions of Godse," he said.
"This Gandhi Jayanti, let us expose the total and complete hypocrisy of those who appropriate Gandhian symbols &mdash; his spectacles, charkha and walking stick &mdash; and project his legacy to the world, but are simply unable and unwilling to uphold all the values he championed and ultimately laid down his life for," Ramesh said.
He also urged people to recall that the Mahatma practised complete transparency and openness, and had no vengeful feelings for his opponents.
Gandhi shunned bigotry, prejudice and hatred, and never misused religion to inflame people's passions, Ramesh said.
Vengeance and showmanship was alien to his character, he added.
"This Gandhi Jayanti, let us all resolve to work towards the victory of truth over lies, and ensure that the politics of compassion prevails over the politics of hate, vengeance and prejudice," he said.
In a post on X, the Congress said, "On Gandhi Jayanti, we pay a billion tributes to the Mahatma, whose life-long dedication to the cause of freedom won India her Independence." "Let us pledge that his values of peace, unity and non-violence &mdash; the bedrock of our nation &mdash; continue to act as our guiding light," the party said.&nbsp;

Satellite NVS-01 was launched via the GSLV rocket from Sriharikota.

India's space agency launched a satellite on May 29, 2023 to augment the country's own satellite navigation system NavIC.
Satellite NVS-01 was launched onboard ISRO's GSLV rocket. NVS-01 weighs 2,232 kg and will be placed in a geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO) at an altitude of about 251 km.
The second-generation satellite would also carry an indigenously developed rubidium atomic clock. Earlier scientists at ISRO had used an imported atomic clock.
ISRO developed the NavIC system to meet the positioning, navigation and timing requirements of the country, particularly with regard to civil aviation and military requirements.
NavIC was earlier known as the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) and is designed with a constellation of seven satellites and a network of ground stations that operate 24x7.

Senior party leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra demanded strict action against those responsible for the death of 24 patients in as many hours in a goverment hospital in Maharashtra's Nanded. She also sought compensation for the affected families.
In a post in Hindi on X, Priyanka Gandhi said she received the "sad news" of death of 24 patients, including 12 infants, due to the shortage of medicines from Maharashtra.
"May God grant peace to the departed souls. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families," she said.
"Strict action should be taken against those responsible and compensation should be given to the affected families," she added.
A three-member expert committee has been set up to probe the incident, the official said.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said that several infrastructural issues led to the death of 24 patients, including 12 babies, in a period of 24 hours on October 2.&nbsp;
Chavan even visited the hospital and reviewed the situation.&nbsp;
The Congress leader said that 70 patients are in critical condition in the hospital and the state government needs to take a decision on a war footing to save their lives.&nbsp;
Chavan said Dr. Shamrao Wakode, the hospital dean and District Surgeon Nilakant Bhosikar told him that the nurses were transferred but no new appointments were made to the vacant posts and there is also a huge shortage of doctors.
He added that the hospital is facing a financial crisis due to non-approval of funds and because of that contracts for maintenance of CT scan machines and other equipment were not paid.
Many machines were shut down due to lack of maintenance.
Ashok Chavan said that while the capacity of the Nanded hospital is 500 patients, it is treating about 1,200 patients.
&lsquo;I have suggested to the administration that private doctors should be called for treatment of the 70 patients who are critical.&rsquo;
He also had a discussion over the phone with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's office and asked for immediate action.
Chavan added that it is not the time for politics so he will not indulge in a blamegame but added that government needs to act swiftly.

The death of 24 patients within 24 hours in a government hospital in Maharashtra's Nanded comes less than two months after 18 patients died in Thane.&nbsp;
In the 24-hour period between August 12 and 13, a total of 18 patients had died in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hopsital in Kalwa in Thane district.&nbsp; 12 of the patients who died were above the age of 50.&nbsp;
Thane civic commissioner Abhijit Bangar had then said that the patients were suffering from complications due to kidney stones, chronic paralysis, ulcers, pneumonia, kerosene poisoning, and septicemia among other ailments.&nbsp;
3 more deaths were reported in the hospital on August 14.&nbsp;
The Hindu reported officials as saying that the hospital was treating 600 patients compared to its capacity of 500 because the Thane Civil Hospital located nearby was being renovated.&nbsp;

From staff shortage to patient overload: reasons behind 24 deaths in Maharashtra hospital

24 patients including 12 newborn babies have died in a govt hospital in Maharashtra's Nanded in the last 24 hours, Dr Dilip Mhaisekar, director of the state's Medical Education and Research said on Oct 2.&nbsp;
The dean of the Shankarrao Chavan Government Hospital said that lack of hospital staff due to transfers and medicine shortage were responsible for the deaths.&nbsp;
Media reports quoted him as saying that the hospital is a tertiary-level care centre and patients from far-off places come there since it is the only one in the 70 to 80-km radius. He added that on some days the patient load increases and creates a problem as several staff members have been transferred but their replacements have not been brought in. &nbsp;
The dean also said that the hospital is supposed to buy medicines from an institute called Haffkine but that also did not work out and they had procure medicine locally for the patients.&nbsp;
