The first dedicated medical unmanned aerial vehicle or UAV corridor in India may start before the end of this year. The All India Insitute of Medical Sciences in Delhi may get a drone corridor with the AIIMS in Haryana's Jhajjar.

A drone corridor is a designated airspace from which commercial UAV operations are kept out of.

The service may include rushing life-saving supplies from the AIIMS Delhi to Jhajjar, which is situated 50 kms away. The journey between the two takes about 1.5 hours, while the drone corridor is expected to cover the distance in minutes.

Reports say that the ministry and Airports Authority of India have approved the plan, but AIIMS is still waiting for Delhi Police's approval.

Over the last year, drones have been used to transport medical supplies to far-away areas of India.
