India Covid update: 23,529 new Covid cases, 24% higher than Wednesday

India reported 23,529 fresh cases of Covid on Thursday, taking the cumulative total of the cases in the country to over 3.37 crore, as per the health ministry. The new cases recorded are 24 per cent higher compared to Wednesday.

The death toll due to the viral disease shot up to over 4.48 lakh with 311 more fatalities in the 24 hours.

The active cases dipped to 2,77,020, the lowest in 195 days, while The national Covid recovery rate was recorded at 97.85 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

Of all the fresh cases reported, Kerala recorded 12,161 new Covid cases and 155 deaths.

The daily positivity rate has been less than 3 per cent for the last 31 days while the weekly positivity rate has been less than 3 per cent for the last 97 days.

Further, India has administered 88.34 crore Covid vaccine doses under the nationwide vaccination drive which commenced earlier this year.
