Last week, the university unveiled the names of four esteemed senior scientists chosen for the esteemed Goyal Awards.

Kurukshetra University announces Rajib Goyal award for young scientists

Kurukshetra University's Goyal Award Committee has announced the Rajib Goyal Prize. On Monday, the Chairman, Kurukshetra University and the Goyal Award Organising Committee, Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva, announced the awards and said that Kurukshetra University honours the best scientists of the country every year, recognising their significant contributions in the field of science and technology.

Prof. Som Nath Sachdeva said that each Rajib Goyal Prize consists of a medal, citation, and a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh. The university announced the names of four distinguished senior scientists selected for the Goyal Awards last week.

Four Scientists of the country, all below the age of 45 have been selected by the Kurukshetra University for Rajib Goyal Prizes for Young Scientists. Those who will be receiving this prize include, Dr. Saptarshi Basu, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Bengaluru, (Applied Sciences), Dr. Sebastian C. Peter, JNCASR, Bengaluru, (Chemical Sciences), Dr. Bushra Ateeq, Department of Biological Sciences and Bioengineering, IIT Kanpur (Life Sciences), Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Aggarwal, Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar, (Physical Sciences).

Highlighting the contributions of the young scientists, the Donor's nominee and Co-chairman of the Organising Committee, Prof. SP Singh said that, Dr. Saptarshi Basu has made significant contributions in the field of fluid dynamics; Dr. Sebastian C. Peter has designed catalysts to capture carbon dioxide and convert it into several value-added chemicals; Dr. Bushra Ateeq, Youth Laureate for Biology, has conducted cutting-edge research in cancer biology that laid the foundation for prostate cancer molecular subtyping and Dr. Sanjeev Aggarwal the award winner for Young Scientist in Physics, has made innovative contributions mainly in neutrino physics and detector simulations, he added.

Prof. Sanjiv Arora, Convener of the Organising Committee said that the Goyal Awards were instituted by Late. Sh. Ram S Goyal, NRI settled in the USA in 1990. He said that the award ceremony will be arranged soon at KU, where all 8 scientists will personally receive their awards.
