Haryana power minister: 10.72% line loss reduction, ₹1,000 cr profit expected by March end

Haryana's Minister of Power and Jails Ranjit Singh during a presser on March 5 provided insights into the state's notable strides in the energy sector over the past four years. Acknowledging the Electricity Board's newfound profitability, Singh anticipated a substantial profit of ₹1,000 crore by the end of March.

Addressing concerns of line losses, Singh disclosed that stringent measures have been implemented, resulting in a commendable reduction to 10.72%. The Minister emphasized ongoing efforts to sever connections of significant defaulters to enhance electricity availability.

In a bid to address power shortages, Singh announced plans for a new 800-megawatt thermal plant in Yamunanagar and another plant in Kharkhoda. These initiatives not only aim to bolster energy resources but also hold the potential to create employment opportunities for the youth in the region.

Singh further detailed the removal of electric poles from rural roads, ensuring the convenience of residents. This strategic move aligns with the government's commitment to optimizing infrastructure for the well-being of the public.

As Haryana continues to navigate the challenges in the energy sector, these initiatives underscore the government's proactive approach in ensuring reliable and efficient power supply for its citizens.
