Minister Naik Claims 10% Administrative Incompetence in Maharashtra

Minister Naik Claims 10% Administrative Incompetence in Maharashtra

Thane, Oct 7 (PTI) Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Ganesh Naik has made a striking claim that 10 per cent of the officials in the administration are "incompetent." He emphasized that a strong sense of duty among these officials could eliminate the necessity for public grievance forums like 'janata darbar.' He addressed the media on Monday following a 'janata darbar' session at a venue in Thane city, an area prominent for Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Eknath Shinde.

During this meeting, over 260 grievances from citizens regarding civic, administrative, and developmental concerns were submitted. Naik, who holds the position of state forest minister, assured that immediate measures would be taken on approximately 60 percent of these complaints, while the rest would be addressed in a time-oriented fashion. He stated, "90 percent of officers are good, but there is a 10 percent that is incompetent, and it can be felt," citing several examples where officials failed to resolve public issues.

"Public works should stem from a sense of duty, not obligation. If everyone nurtures their duty consciousness, the need for janata darbars would vanish," Naik remarked. He also noted that a collective sense of responsibility and dedication could significantly accelerate the pace of public service.

"Citizens attending janata darbar believe their issues will be addressed. However, a sincere adherence to duty by every officer and citizen could automatically lessen grievances," he added. Naik, who is also the guardian minister for the neighboring Palghar district, emphasized that issues presented at these gatherings should be heard and resolved. "They deserve respect, even if one cannot respect them, they should not be insulted," he advised the session's organizers and officials.

"If issues are resolved promptly, the necessity for such forums diminishes. But since that is often not the case, people flock to these darbars with high expectations," Naik elaborated. He also underscored the significance of the forthcoming Vadhavan Port in Palghar, mentioning it will rank among the world's top ten largest ports. Naik asserted that this project would hugely benefit local citizens by prioritizing them in education, healthcare, trade, and job opportunities. All essential work is slated for completion before the port's operational commencement in 2029.
