<p>Severe cyclonic storm Michaung&rsquo;s landfall is currently underway with the eye of the cyclone situated near Bapatla in south Andhra Pradesh coast, said an official on Tuesday.</p>
<p>The weather system over the west-central Bay of Bengal, running along and off the south Andhra Pradesh coast is moving nearly northwards, parallel and close to the south Andhra Pradesh coast and is expected to complete crossing in the next two hours, the official said.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Severe cyclonic storm Michaung is currently making landfall close to Bapatla. It is expected to complete its landfall in the next two hours. It is expected to complete crossing by 2 pm,&rdquo; an Amaravati Meteorological Centre official told PTI.</p>
<p>The Amaravati Meteorological Centre noted that the intensity of gales near the centre of the severe cyclonic storm is 90 - 100 km per hour and gusting up to 110 kmph.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, 9,454 people have been evacuated from the seven districts of Konaseema, Kakinada, Krishna, Bapatla and Prakasam to safety in 211 relief camps, according to a dataset shared by APSDMA with PTI.</p>
<p>The state government evacuated 910 people from Konaseema district, Kakinada (523), Krishna (1,814), Bapatla (702), Prakasam (128), Nellore (1,991) and Tirupati (3,386).</p>
<p>As part of relief efforts, 10,251 food packets were distributed and 18,068 water packets.</p>
<p>With the severe cyclonic storm Michaung anticipated to hit Bapatla during its passage, residents have been advised against going outdoors.</p>
<p>Bapatla district superintendent of police Vakul Jindal told PTI that people living in thatched houses in the region have been evacuated.</p>
<p>We are vigilant and we will see what happens and respond accordingly, Jindal said. While some people were moved to shelters in vehicles, people living nearby walked there.</p>
<p>Earlier on Monday, Bapatla district collector Ranjit Basha, Jindal and MLA K Raghupati visited Suryalanka coast and issued instructions to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team and police officials.</p>
<p>Every police station in the district has been equipped with a JCB excavator, cutter machines, ropes and expert swimmers.</p>
<p>Taking past incidents into account, district police identified 24 vulnerable bridges and deployed police personnel there.</p>
<p>Similarly, 300 police personnel and other officials have been deployed in villages which are likely to suffer inundation.</p>
<p>Likewise, 60 policemen have been kept on standby at the district police headquarters to attend to emergencies.</p>
<p>One NDRF and two State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed in the district. Police have evacuated people living in low lying areas.</p>
<p>In the event of an emergency, Bapatla district police told people to reach out to helplines 100, 112 and police control room number 8333813228.</p>
<p>Heavy rains continue to lash several parts of Andhra Pradesh as the severe cyclonic storm looming over the Bay of Bengal sea close to Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Tamil Nadu coasts is making landfall.</p>
<p>The weather system is moving northwards close to the coast and some parts of the wall cloud region already lie overland.</p>
<p>The Meteorological Department forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied by gales in parts of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and Wednesday.</p>
<p>It also forecast extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places. On Tuesday, it forecast extremely heavy rainfall, greater than 204.4 mm, in isolated places of Konaseema, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Palnadu, Bapatla and Prakasam districts, along with heavy to very heavy rainfall, 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm, in parts of these districts.</p>
<p>Likewise, it forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Alluri Sitharamaraju, Kakinada, East Godavari, Kadapa and Nellore districts.</p>
<p>Further, the Meteorological Department forecast heavy rainfall, 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm, in parts of Srikakulam, Parvathipuram Manyam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Nandyala, Annamayya and Tirupati districts.</p>
<p>Except for the four Rayalaseema districts of Kurnool, Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai and Chittoor, several parts of the rest of the state are expected to be pounded by rains.</p>
<p>Several parts of West Godavari district have been witnessing intermittent rainfall since Sunday night, which intensified into heavy rainfall on Tuesday.</p>
<p>In view of several streams and water bodies overflowing in East Godavari district, superintendent of police P Jagadish said police personnel have been deployed across the district to carry out relief efforts.</p>
<p>Similarly, Anakapalli district SP K V Murali Krishna directed his subordinates to clear uprooted trees and keep JCB excavators and cutting machines ready for this purpose.</p>
<p>He also directed them to coordinate with other departments to restore powerlines. In the wake of swollen water bodies, Murali Krishna called on people observing &lsquo;karthika maasam&rsquo; rituals to avoid going to the seashore and other water bodies.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the official custodian of Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirupati, noted that all the five major dams in Tirumala have reached their full capacity by 4 am on Monday itself due to incessant rains in the past four days.</p>
<p>Papavinasanam, Akasaganga, Gogarbham, Kumaradhara and Pasupudhara are the chief water sources in Tirumala. Water is also drawn from Kalyani Dam in Tirupati.</p>
<p>About 100 mm of rainfall had been recorded in Tirumala in just 24hours by Monday evening.</p>
<p>Further, TTD imposed restrictions on the movement of two-wheelers on ghat roads.</p>
<p>Tirupati MLA and TTD chairman B Karunakara Reddy visited cyclone affected people on Tuesday morning at Pulavanigunta and Gollavanigunta and interacted with them, and assured help.</p>
<p>Accompanied by officials, he told the affected people to stay vigilant and reach out whenever they need help. Reddy directed officials to provide food and drinking water to the affected people in Tirupati.</p>
<p>The South Central Railway Zone has set up helplines across its Divisions in Andhra Pradesh.</p>

<p>As of 8.30 am on Tuesday, the weather system had moved at a speed of 12 Kmph over the past six hours, positioning itself near latitude 15.2 degrees north and longitude 80.25 degrees east.</p>
<p>According to the latest bulletin from the IMD, the weather system situated 40 km northeast of Kavali, 80 km north to northeast of Nellore, 80 km south to southwest of Bapatla, and 140 km south to southwest of Machilipatnam.</p>

<p>Twenty-four deaths, including that of 12 infants, have been reported in the last 24 hours in a government hospital in Nanded, a top Maharashtra health official said on Monday.</p>

<p>24 patients including 12 newborn babies have died in a govt hospital in Maharashtra's Nanded in the last 24 hours, Dr Dilip Mhaisekar, director of the state's Medical Education and Research said on Oct 2.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The dean of the Shankarrao Chavan Government Hospital said that the lack of hospital staff due to transfers and medicine shortage were responsible for the deaths.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Media reports quoted him as saying that the hospital is a tertiary-level care centre and patients from far-off places come there since it is the only one in the 70 to 80-km radius. He added that on some days the patient load increases and creates a problem as several staff members have been transferred but their replacements have not been brought in. &nbsp;</p>
<p>The dean also said that the hospital is supposed to buy medicines from an institute called Haffkine but that also did not work out and they had to procure medicine locally for the patients.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Ashok Gehlot's OSD Lokesh Sharma on Tuesday alleged that the then deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot's movements and phone were tracked and monitored by the Gehlot government in the run-up to and during the rebellion Pilot had staged in 2020.</p>
<p>There was no immediate reaction from Congress leaders Gehlot and Pilot or their aides on the allegations.</p>
<p>Sharma, who was denied a ticket to contest the Rajasthan assembly polls and has been criticising Gehlot for the party's defeat in the elections, also said if the incidents of September last year, when a legislature party meeting was not allowed to take place by Gehlot loyalists, had not happened and the Congress observers had carried out the agenda for which they had come, the picture in Rajasthan would have been different.</p>
<p>The Congress leadership wanted to effect a leadership change and bring in Pilot as the chief minister.</p>
<p>He said the differences between Gehlot and Pilot "harmed" the party's prospects.</p>
<p>"When the political crisis of 2020 had come and Pilot ji had left with his 18 MLAs, then in such a situation, the government does put its machinery in to use and everyone is monitored, where do these people go, who do they meet and who do they speak with. So that is done and in that manner their monitoring was also done," Sharma alleged.</p>
<p>He claimed that the monitoring was happening from before the rebellion as there was some idea that such a thing could happen.</p>
<p>Asked about the details of the monitoring, Sharma told PTI, "I said monitoring was being done continuously which includes all these things -- movement, who are they speaking with, those things were being tracked and monitored." Sharma claimed that elections could have been fought better and the main reason for defeat was that ticket distribution was not done properly.</p>
<p>"There was no-anti incumbency against the government but people did not want to see many of the MLAs return as their representatives. Such reports were communicated to the chief minister. These were not just my reports but the AICC survey, and other reports were that sitting MLAs' tickets should be cut but it was not done," Sharma claimed.</p>
<p>Asked why action had not been taken on the reports, he said, "You can say it was his (Gehlot's) stubbornness. He probably felt it was his moral duty towards those who had helped him save his government." Sharma denied that he was making such allegations as he was denied a ticket.</p>
<p>He said it is up to the party to decide on his ticket which he was demanding as a party worker.</p>
<p>"I am saying so now as I want that corrective measures are taken as Lok Sabha polls are round the corner and it is important to set things right," he said.</p>
<p>On the day the Congress lost in Rajasthan, Sharma had blamed Gehlot for the defeat in the assembly polls and said that his experience, magic and schemes could not bring the Congress back to power in the state.</p>
<p>On Monday, replying to a question on an earlier statement of Sharma, Pilot had said, "I have seen the statement. It is strange. Because he was OSD to the chief minister, that's why it is a matter of concern. I believe the party will look into why he said so. And how much truth it holds."</p>

<p>Telangana Congress chief A Revanth Reddy will be the new chief minister of the state.</p>
<p>Announcing the decision at the party headquarters here on Tuesday, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said the swearing-in will take place on December 7 in Hyderabad.</p>
<p>"After considering the report of observers and after discussion with senior leaders, the Congress president has decided to go with Revanth Reddy as the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in Telangana," he said.</p>
<p>Revanth Reddy was the frontrunner for the top post in the state after the party staged a stupendous victory in assembly elections by winning 64 seats in Telangana, upstaging the BRS.</p>
<p>Venugopal said the Congress Legislature Party in Telangana had unanimously decided to authorise the Congress president to take a decision to appoint the CLP leader in its meeting earlier.</p>
<p>He said the party had appointed four observers including Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, Deepa Dasmunshi, Ajoy Kumar and K J George, besides AICC general secretary in-charge Manikrao Thakre.</p>
<p>Shivakumar and Thakre were present as Venugopal announced the party high command's decision on Telangana.</p>
<p>He did not answer queries on how many ministers would be sworn in and whether there would be any deputy chief ministers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Protests erupted in Rajasthan after the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Gogamedi was shot dead in his living room on December 5.<br><br>The CCTV footage of the incident shows three assailants sitting with the Sena chief and suddenly they started shooting at Chief Sukhdev Gogamedi and others present in the room.<br><br>The Police officials said that one of the personal security guards of Gogamedi also got injured while one of the assailants was also shot dead in retaliatory firing.<br><br>Soon after the incident, Rajput Kartni Sena followers started flooding the hospital where Gogamedi was admitted and blocked Shipra Path road outside the hospital demanding the arrest of the accused.&nbsp;<br><br></p>

<p>As per a report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), &nbsp;the national capital, Delhi, has experienced the most gruesome murder cases in 2022. NCRB revealed that 16 cases of murders arose out of love affairs in the city.</p>
<p>The cases include the sensational murder of Shraddha Walker, who was allegedly strangled and chopped into 35 pieces by her live-in partner Aftab Amin Poonawala, who suspected her of being involved with another man.&nbsp;</p>
<p>According to the NCRB data, Delhi recorded 501 cases of murder, and at least 13 of them were committed over illicit relationships, 54 in personal enmity, and 197 in family, property, and other disputes.</p>
<p>At least 35 murders took place over money, and one was over water. Two cases of murder emerged out of incidents of road rage, and three were due to gang rivalry.</p>
<p>At least 10 cases of murder were committed during dacoity and robbery bids in Delhi, the report said.</p>
<p>Also, human sacrifice became the cause of at least one murder case in the national capital.</p>

Right-wing group Karni Sena's president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi shot dead

<p>Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said that Gogamedi was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Right-wing group Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena's president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead by unidentified assailants here on Tuesday, police said.</p>
<p>According to police, the incident took place in the Shyam Nagar area this afternoon.</p>
<p>"As per initial reports, four people entered a house where Gogamedi was present and opened fire at him. One of Gogamedi's security personnel and another person were injured in the firing," Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra told PTI.</p>
<p>Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph told PTI that Gogamedi was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.&nbsp;</p>
