Massive Mobile Phone Fraud Uncovered at Flipkart Hubs in Kochi

Kochi, Nov 14 (PTI) Police have initiated a case following the uncovering of a significant fraud at an online platform's delivery hubs in Ernakulam district, with mobile phones valued at Rs 1.61 crore reported missing, according to officials on Friday.

Upon receiving a complaint from Flipkart's enforcement officer, the Ernakulam Rural Cyber Police filed a case and commenced an investigation on Thursday.

The detected fraud occurred at Flipkart's delivery hubs located in Kanjoor, Kuruppampady, Mekkad, and Muvattupuzha.

A case has been filed against Siddiqy K Aliyar, Jassim Dileep, Haris P A, and Mahin Noushad, who were responsible for the hubs in Kanjoor, Kuruppampady, Mekkad, and Muvattupuzha, respectively.

According to the FIR, the accused fraudulently ordered 332 mobile phones from Flipkart between August 8 and October 10, 2025, utilizing fake addresses and various mobile numbers.

The missing phones, valued at Rs 1.61 crore, featured models from renowned brands such as Apple (iPhone), Samsung Galaxy, Vivo, and iQOO.

The FIR specified that 38 phones worth Rs 18.14 lakh were ordered from the Kanjoor hub, 87 phones worth Rs 40.97 lakh from the Kuruppampady hub, 101 phones worth Rs 48.66 lakh from the Mekkad hub, and 106 phones worth Rs 53.41 lakh from the Muvattupuzha hub.

These phones were reported missing upon arrival at the respective delivery centres.

The police have registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and forgery, alongside applicable sections of the Information Technology Act.

"The investigation is in its early stages. We are collecting additional information and will soon interrogate the individuals involved," a police officer stated.
