Election Commission changes vote counting date of Sikkim and Arunachal assembly polls

Since the terms of Arunachal and Sikkim assemblies are ending on June 2, the Election Commission decided to change the date of counting from June 4 to June 2.   

Election Commission changes vote counting date of Sikkim and Arunachal assembly polls

The Election Commission on Sunday announced that it has advanced the counting date for Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim assembly elections to June 2.

Previously, the votes for Sikkim and Arunachal were supposed to be counted on June 4, along with poll votes of Lok Sabha and two other state assembly elections.

The poll body said that the dates have been advanced due to the term of the two assemblies ending on June 2.

"There shall be no change in respect of schedule for Parliamentary constituencies of Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim," it noted.

Assembly polls are also being held in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha along with parliamentary elections.
