PM Modi urges unity for 'Viksit Bharat,' pays tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Parakram Diwas

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called for unity in the pursuit of a 'viksit Bharat' (developed India) while warning against forces attempting to weaken the country's fabric. Speaking virtually at a Parakram Diwas event in Cuttack, marking the birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose, Modi described the iconic freedom fighter as a continuous source of inspiration.

Highlighting Netaji's determination for India’s independence, Modi said, "Bose shunned his comfort zone to fight for the country's freedom. Similarly, we must step out of our comfort zones to achieve global excellence and efficiency."

The prime minister emphasized that Bose's unwavering focus on 'swaraj' united people from diverse backgrounds, and he urged citizens to remain united for a developed India. "We must stay alert to those trying to weaken our unity and the nation," he added.

Citing his government’s efforts to honor Bose's legacy, Modi referred to the naming of Andaman islands after him, the installation of his statue at India Gate, and the declaration of his birth anniversary as Parakram Diwas.

Modi also lauded India’s progress over the past decade, noting that over 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, modern infrastructure is being built, and the armed forces have seen unprecedented strengthening. He added that India has emerged as a powerful global voice.

Urging citizens to draw inspiration from Bose's pride in India’s heritage, Modi reiterated the importance of collective effort and vigilance to achieve the vision of a developed and united nation.
