Delhi Records Cleanest Air with AQI at 75; Thunderstorm Alert Issued

Delhi recorded its cleanest air since September last year on Friday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) remaining in the "satisfactory" category for a fourth consecutive day and settling at 75.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI was recorded at 75 at 4 pm, marking the cleanest air in the capital since September 28, when it was 67.

The city recorded AQI readings of 89, 80 and 96 on June 19, June 18 and June 17 respectively -- all falling within the "satisfactory" range. On Monday, the air quality was recorded in the "moderate" category, with a reading of 111.

According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".

A "yellow" alert for thunderstorms and rains has been issued.

Humidity levels fluctuated between 77 per cent in the morning and 66 per cent in the evening.
