The sudden death of industrialist Cyrus Mistry invited condolences from across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi remembered the former chairman of Tata Sons as "a promising business leader who believed in India’s economic prowess". PM Modi added that Mistry's untimely demise "is a big loss to the world of commerce and industry".

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed shock, and said that Mistry was "committed to carrying forward and strengthening his business in infra and infra projects. He desired to keep contributing to India's economic progress".

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remembered Mistry as one of the brightest business minds of the country who made a significant contribution to India’s growth story.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said India has lost a "business visionary who still had so much left to contribute to India's economic growth".

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "I pray to the lord that Mistry's family find the strength to overcome this great loss."

The former chairman of Tata Sons died in a car accident in Maharashtra's Palghar on 4 September 2022. His car had hit a road divider on a bridge.
