The Mumbai police on Monday issued prohibitory orders till June 11 restricting the movement and unlawful assembly of five or more persons in order to prevent breach of peace, disturbance to public tranquillity and danger to human lives and loss of property in the metropolis, an official said.
Assembly of five or more persons, processions, use of loudspeakers and amplification instruments, musical bands and bursting of firecrackers have been restricted, though marriage ceremonies, funeral assemblies, statutory meeting of companies, clubs, co-operative societies etc are exempted, as per the order.
Assemblies in or around cinema houses, theatres or any place of public amusement for the purpose of watching films, dramas or performances, around schools and colleges are also exempted along with assemblies in or around courts of law and offices of the government and local bodies in discharge of government and semi government functions, it said.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday said nearly 40 armed militants involved in torching houses and firing at civilians have been killed by security forces 

The CM said the latest round of &ldquo;conflict is not between communities but between Kuki militants and security forces&rdquo;.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Sunday said nearly 40 armed militants involved in torching houses and firing at civilians have been killed by security forces since they began an operation to bring peace to the northeastern state beset by ethnic rioting.
Singh&rsquo;s comments came in the backdrop of fresh clashes breaking out between armed groups and security forces at over half a dozen places across Manipur on Sunday. The Chief Minister who was interacting with the media persons at the state secretariat, claimed the latest round of &ldquo;conflict is not between communities but between Kuki militants and security forces&rdquo;.
Singh also said that there had been cases of armed militants firing at civilians with AK-47s, M-16 and sniper rifles. These militants were targeted by security forces in counter-attacks.
The CM appealed to the public not to hinder the movement of security personnel and urged them to have "faith in the government and support the security forces." &ldquo;We have experienced hardship for so long and we will never allow the state to disintegrate," Singh said.
He said many Kuki militants involved in killing civilians and destroying property and torching houses have been captured by the Jat regiment.
The latest clashes which erupted in the early hours of Sunday began after the army commenced combing operations to de-arm communities in order to bring peace, officials said.
The house of BJP MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani Singh at Uripok in Imphal West was vandalised and his two vehicles have been set on fire, a top security official told PTI.
He said that clashes broke out in the early hours of the morning at several places in different districts surrounding the Imphal Valley both between militant groups and security forces as well as between rival ethnic militant groups.
"According to our information, firing has been reported from Sugnu in Kakching, Kangvi in Churachandpur, Kangchup in Imphal West, Sagolmang in Imphal East, Nungoipokpi in Bishenpur, Khurkhul in Imphal West and YKPI in Kangpokpi," the official said.
New roadblocks have also sprung up in many areas manned by women which have delayed army columns on patrol. There was also an unconfirmed report of arms being looted from Kakching police station by a Meitei group, the official said.
Ethnic clashes which have claimed over 75 lives first broke out in Manipur after a 'Tribal Solidarity March' was organised in the hill districts on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.
The violence was preceded by tension over the eviction of Kuki villagers from reserve forest land, which had led to a series of smaller agitations.
Meiteis account for about 53 per cent of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal Valley. Tribal Nagas and Kukis constitute another 40 per cent of the population and reside in the hill districts.
Around 140 columns of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, comprising over 10,000 personnel, besides those from other paramilitary forces had to be deployed to bring back normalcy in the Northeastern state.&nbsp;

Ten people died and at least three persons were injured in a road accident involving a car and private bus in T Narasipura taluk in Mysuru on Monday, police said.
The incident took place near Kuruburu village on Kollegala-T Narasipura main road.
According to sources, the car has been completely crushed due to the impact of the accident in what seems to be a head-on collision between the two vehicles.
The injured have been rushed to various hospitals and are being treated for injuries.

A major tragedy was averted on Friday when an Air India and a Nepal Airlines aircraft came close to collision mid-air but the warning systems alerted the pilots whose timely action prevented the disaster, authorities said here on Sunday.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended three employees of the air traffic controller department for &ldquo;carelessness&rdquo;, according to CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niroula.
On Friday morning, an Airbus A-320 aircraft of the Nepal Airlines coming to Kathmandu from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and an Air India plane coming to Kathmandu from New Delhi almost collided.
The Air India aircraft was descending from 19,000 ft while the Nepal Airlines aircraft was flying at an altitude of 15,000 ft at the same location, Niroula said.
After it was shown on the radar that the two aircraft were in proximity, the Nepal Airlines aircraft descended to 7,000 ft, the spokesperson said.

Sources said while Gehlot met Kharge at his residence at around 6 pm, a few minutes after which Gandhi also joined them. The Congress chief and Gandhi held deliberations with Gehlot for about half an hour, after which party's in-charge for Rajasthan Sukhjinder Randhawa was called in.

Delhi Police has arrested Sahil, the accused boyfriend of a 16-year-old Delhi girl who was brutally murdered in full public view, according to news agency ANI.
The accused has been nabbed from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr.&nbsp;

The incident took place on May 28, 2023, in the Rohini area.

Sahil, the accused behind the horrific murder of a minor girl in New Delhi's Shahbad Dairy area was arrested by the Delhi Police near Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh today.

The unemployment rate for persons aged 15 years and above in urban areas declined to 6.8 per cent during January-March 2023 from 8.2 per cent a year ago, the National Sample Survey Survey (NSSO) showed.
Joblessness or unemployment rate is defined as the percentage of unemployed persons in the labour force.
Joblessness was high in January-March 2022, mainly due to the staggering impact of Covid-related restrictions in the country.
The unemployment rate in July-September 2022 and October-December 2022 was 7.2 per cent only. It was 7.6 per cent in April-June 2022.
The unemployment rate (UR) for persons aged 15 years and above in April-June 2022 was 7.6 per cent in urban areas, the 18th Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) showed.
In January-March 2022, the unemployment rate was 8.2 per cent.
It also showed that the unemployment rate among females (aged 15 years and above) in urban areas declined to 9.2 per cent in January-March 2023 from 10.1 per cent in the same quarter a year ago. It was 9.6 per cent in October-December 2022, 9.4 per cent in July-September 2022 and 9.5 per cent in April-June 2022.
Among males, the unemployment rate in urban areas dipped to six per cent in January-March 2023 compared to 7.7 per cent in the same quarter a year ago. It was 6.5 per cent in October-December 2022, 6.6 per cent in July-September 2022 and 7.1 per cent in April-June 2022.
Labour force participation rate in CWS (Current Weekly Status) in urban areas for persons aged 15 years and above increased to 48.5 per cent in the January-March quarter of 2023, from 47.3 per cent in the same period a year ago. It was 48.2 per cent in October-December 2022, 47.9 per cent in July-September 2022 and 47.5 per cent in April-June 2022.
Labour force refers to the part of the population, which supplies or offers to supply labour for pursuing economic activities for the production of goods and services and, therefore, includes both employed and unemployed persons.
NSSO launched PLFS in April 2017. On the basis of PLFS, a quarterly bulletin is brought out giving estimates of labour force indicators namely unemployment rate, Worker Population Ratio (WPR), Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR), distribution of workers by broad status in employment and industry of work in CWS.
The estimates of unemployed persons in CWS give an average picture of unemployment in a short span of seven days during the survey period. In the CWS approach, a person is considered unemployed if he/she did not work even for one hour on any day during the week but sought or was available for work at least for one hour on any day during the period.
Labour force, according to CWS, is the number of persons either employed or unemployed on average in a week preceding the date of the survey. LFPR is defined as the percentage of the population in the labour force.
The WPR (in per cent) in CWS in urban areas for persons aged 15 years and above stood at 45.2 per cent in January-March 2023, up from 43.4 per cent in the same period a year ago. It was 44.7 per cent in October-December 2022, 44.5 per cent in July-September 2022 and 43.9 per cent in April-June, 2022.
The present quarterly bulletin is the eighteenth in the series for the quarter January-March 2023.&nbsp;
