Bribery Scandal: Jaipur Official Caught Red-Handed

Jaipur, Jul 2: Kaushal Kumawat, an assistant town planner with the Nagaur Municipal Council, was apprehended by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs 4 lakh, officials reported on Wednesday.

Kumawat had allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh to provide a favourable technical report for a registered warehouse and cold storage owned by the complainant's nephew.

ACB Additional Director General of Police, Smita Srivastava, revealed that a trap was set following verification of Kumawat's bribery demand, during which he agreed to accept Rs 4 lakh.

The Nagaur ACB team, under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police Kalpana Solanki, successfully caught Kumawat in the act of accepting the money within the municipal council premises on Wednesday.

ADGP Srivastava stated that a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and Kumawat is currently being interrogated.
