**Proclaimed Offender Nabbed in East Delhi After 16 Years on the Run** New Delhi: In a dramatic turn of events, Safdar Ali, a proclaimed offender who had been evading authorities for 16 years, was finally apprehended in East Delhi's Sabzi Mandi area, police announced on Friday. The 57-year-old fugitive, discovered hawking vegetables at the time of his arrest, was wanted in connection with a kidnapping case dating back to April 2009. According to police reports, Ali allegedly abducted Kalicharan, a resident of Prem Ka Gakaan village, following Kalicharan’s marriage to Ali's sister, Shama. Kalicharan managed to contact his mother after the abduction, stating that he had been taken to Bisauli in Uttar Pradesh. In the subsequent investigation, police quickly apprehended an accomplice named Agar Ali. However, Safdar Ali managed to elude capture and was designated a proclaimed offender by the court in 2012. For over a decade, Ali cleverly evaded law enforcement by frequently moving between Delhi and Bareilly. It wasn't until a recent tip-off that authorities finally tracked him to the Mulla Colony area of Sabzi Mandi, where he eked out a living as a vegetable seller and occasional daily wage laborer. During police interrogations, Ali confessed to the kidnapping of Kalicharan and was also revealed to be involved in another criminal case in Bareilly, further compounding his legal troubles. This arrest marks a significant development in a protracted case that had long eluded closure, as authorities continue to piece together the extent of Ali's criminal activities.
