11-Year-Old Dies After Contact with Live Electric Pole Near Bengaluru

Bengaluru, June 12: Tragedy struck on the outskirts of Bengaluru as an 11-year-old girl lost her life after reportedly coming into contact with a live electric pole near Anekal, according to police sources on Thursday. The unfortunate incident occurred on Tuesday, involving Tanishka S, a fifth-grade student at a private school in Narayanaghatta.

While playing outside her home, Tanishka accidentally touched a live electric pole and collapsed instantly. Despite immediate efforts to rush her to the hospital, she was sadly declared dead upon arrival.

A senior police officer shared that initial allegations suggest the electric pole was live due to a technical glitch in the earthing system, potentially exacerbated by rainfall. To verify these claims, forensic experts have been called to the site for a thorough inspection to pinpoint the lapses that led to this tragedy.

Following a complaint from Tanishka's family, a case has been filed against officials from BESCOM (Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company) and the Public Works Department at the Surya City police station. The charges include death by negligence under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

"Further actions will hinge on the findings of the forensic report," the officer mentioned, highlighting the ongoing investigation.
