Jr NTR predicted as best actor contender for Oscar 2023 alongside Tom Cruise by US magazine

SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' is on a winning spree at major Hollywood award shows. The Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer bagged the Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards for ‘Naatu Naatu’ in the Best Original Song category. Now, ahead of the 95th Academy Awards nominations that will be announced on January 24, a prominent American magazine has named actor Jr NTR as one of the frontrunners in the Best Actor category.

Praising his performance in the film, the magazine mentioned that the actor must have been noticed by the Academy and it might possibly land him a nod in the Best Actor category.

Ranking Jr NTR at the top of the list, the magazine wrote, 'Here are 10 performances from deserving folks we hope are remembered in this year's Oscar race'. The list also included names like Tom Cruise, Paul Dano, Mia Goth, Paul Mescal and Zoe Kravitz.

Earlier Jr NTR was also mentioned by Variety among their unranked predictions for the 2023 Academy Awards.

NTR played the role of freedom fighter, Komaram Bheem, in the magnum open and received universal acclaim for his performance in the film.

‘RRR’ released in theatres in March last year and went on to become a huge critical and commercial success, grossing over ₹1,200 crore worldwide.
