Gorakhpur, Oct 15 (PTI): Actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan expressed his heartfelt enthusiasm after winning the prestigious Filmfare Award for his role in Kiran Rao's film "Laapataa Ladies." His victory for Best Supporting Actor, announced in Ahmedabad last week, has infused him with "fresh energy" and a reinvigorated commitment to pursue quality work. “Now I’m even more fired up… like a rocket!” proclaimed the 55-year-old actor, upon returning to his hometown of Gorakhpur.

Carrying the esteemed black trophy, Kishan made his way directly to the Gorakhnath Temple, where he paid homage to Guru Gorakhnath by placing the award at the deity's feet in gratitude. “I dedicate this award to my wife, my children, my director Kiran Rao, and producer Aamir Khan,” he stated, noting the congratulatory call he received from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Kishan, renowned for his stardom in Bhojpuri cinema as well as his significant contributions to Hindi cinema with roles in films such as "Welcome to Sajjanpur," "Raavan," and "Mukkabaaz," reflected upon his cinematic journey. “I never let the artist inside me die,” he said, recalling his humble beginnings from a small clay house and his early doubts about achieving such a prestigious accolade. The accomplishments of "Laapataa Ladies," including its recognition at the Oscars, serve as testament to his diligence.

“When I chanted ‘Har Har Mahadev’ on stage — in front of Shah Rukh Khan, the Bachchan family, and the entire film industry — the entire stadium roared. Ahmedabad gave me immense love,” Kishan recounted, describing the overwhelming support he received during the award ceremony.

He shared an inspiring message for the younger generation: “Never lose hope and keep stepping forward. After a long journey, at the age of 55, I finally got the black lady.”
